What is Acne?
Acne is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the sebaceous glands; usually genetic it is characterized by blackheads, whiteheads, macules, papules, pustules and cysts, which often lead to scarring. The first chain of events usually leading to acne, begins during puberty, when the body starts to produce testosterone. This hormone stimulates the sebaceous glands to produce excess sebum which is then trapped in the hair follicle. Dead cells are attached to this sticky substance and bacteria forms.
